Cistercian College Roscrea ... 31, Skerries CC ... 18LEINSTER SCHOOLS: Cistercian College, Roscrea qualified for a Leinster Schools Section B Senior Cup quarter-final tilt at either High School or King's Hospital, but not before undergoing a severe examination from Section A qualifiers Skerries Community College at Athy yesterday.

They were shocked as early as the fifth minute when Skerries' flanker James Sherlock burst through two weak tackles from halfway for an unconverted try.

Roscrea struck back with tries from blindside flanker Barry Hall and the Phelan brothers, Conor and John, only to see Skerries centre Colin Cribben crash over for Conal Keane to convert and narrow the lead to 19-12.

Roscrea captain Enda Kelliher then took a hand in proceedings, breaking through for Conor Phelan to convert for the third time.

Keane slotted a penalty to reduce the deficit to 26-15 at the break, but Skerries were hit badly by the retirement through injury of Sherlock in the 33rd minute.
