US TOUR: Americans Bob May and Joe Ogilvie, England's Justin Rose and Nathan Green of Australia shared the lead on four-under-par 67 early in the first round of the Deutsche Bank Championship on the TPC Boston course.

Rose started with a birdie on the 10th hole and was four-under at the turn. He then had two birdies and a double bogey coming home.

"I made the most of the best part of the day," Rose told reporters. "This morning there wasn't a lot of wind."

Tiger Woods, chasing his fifth win in a row, was three under after 13 holes.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Des Smyth shot an opening 68 to lie in joint fourth place, just four shots behind early leader DA Weibring, who fired an eight-under-par 64, in the Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, California.

Mark McNulty was five under with two holes to play.

CHALLENGE TOUR: Argentina's Rafael Echenique continued his domination of the Telia Challenge Waxholm with a second round of five under par 68 that took gave him a 13-under-par total of 206, three shots clear of Welshman Kyron Sullivan.

Echenique took control of the tournament with a superb, course-record 65 in the opening round, and he continued his low scoring exploits on day two to open up a comfortable lead over Sullivan, who carded a second round 67.

Colm Moriarty missed the cut.
