Rose still struggling

Three late bogeys have put the pressure back on Britain's Justin Rose in his bid to win a European Tour card for next season

Three late bogeys have put the pressure back on Britain's Justin Rose in his bid to win a European Tour card for next season. With one round to go at the 108-hole qualifying school in Spain, the 18-year-old from Hampshire lies in joint 51st place.

Only the leading 35 and ties receive cards, and Rose, whose every step has been followed since he finished fourth at the Open as an amateur in July, probably needs a closing 69 or 70 at San Roque.

None of Ireland's competitors - Jim Carvill, Damien Mooney and Francis Howley - made the cut after Saturday's fourth round.

Rose managed only a 74 yesterday, to lie on six-over-par 366, 17 shots behind Swede Henrik Nystrom, who took over at the top from Ross Drummond by scoring a 68 against the 41-year-old Scot's 74.
