England and Bath fly-half Olly Barkley was arrested by police using CS spray after a fight in a seaside town in which a man suffered a broken jaw.

The 24-year-old was detained by Devon and Cornwall Police in Newquay, north Cornwall, on Sunday. Arrested with him were a 19-year-old student from Cardiff and a 23-year-old man from Wadebridge, Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the fight happened in the resort's Oakleigh Terrace at around 1.45am on Sunday.

"Three men were arrested on suspicion of causing an affray and bailed back to Newquay police station on August 23rd," said a force spokesman. "CS spray was deployed in order to effect the arrests."

The victim suffered head and facial injuries, including a fractured jaw, and was treated for his injuries at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Police said they were investigating the "assault and public order incident".
