Team News:Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has drafted in hooker Rory Best to replace the injured Jerry Flannery for this weekend's autumn international against South Africa at Lansdowne Road.

Best, who will make his first start in his fourth international on Saturday (5pm), was the only change to the team that lost 37-15 in the last summer tour Test against Australia. Munster front row Frankie Sheahan provides the back-up from the bench.

Best's Ulster colleague and namesake Neil is preferred to Simon Easterby at blindside flanker while Munster lock Donncha O'Callaghan keeps out Malcolm O'Kelly, Ireland's most capped player.

The backline has a familiar look to it with Leinster's Girvan Dempsey edging out Geordan Murphy for the number 15 shirt once again.

David Wallace, who sat out training at St Gerard's School in Bray yesterday, was named in the team after recovering from an ankle injury which flared-up over the weekend.

Peter Stringer has been named at scrumhalf and will win his 70th cap, while Brian O'Driscoll will captain the side for the 31st time.

Sheahan, O'Kelly and Easterby, who all missed the summer tour due to injury, are joined there by the uncapped Paddy Wallace.

At today's announcement O'Sullivan said he was hardly surprised to find the back and second rows the most difficult places to fill but overall he selected his starting line-up on form.

"As usual the back and second rows were the most difficult areas of discussion," said O'Sullivan. "Other than that it was pretty straightforward so it wasn't the toughest selection meeting we've had.

"But there are quite a few guys on the bench who could have started. In general we've selected on form.

"Girvan Dempsey has been playing well for Leinster and scored a few tries in the Heineken Cup during the opening rounds.

"Geordan has been playing on the wing for Leicester and Girvan just shaded it on form.

"Leaving out Simon Easterby was the most difficult decision. I'm a fan of his. He's always been close to or in the team and it was a very tough call.

"But if you look at form Neil has been playing very well for Ulster. It was a toss of the coin between the two of them."

Meanwhile South Africa will name their team tomorrow from their base at Dunboyne Castle Hotel.

The Ireland A team to play Australia on November 15th was also named today and shows a mixture of youth and experience in the match 22.

The side will be captained by Ulster prop Simon Best and also includes senior squad newcomers Luke Fitzgerald and Stephen Ferris in the starting team for their first appearance at this level.

Ireland A will play Australia in Thomond Park on Wednesday, November 15th with kick-off at.7.30pm.
