AIL Round-Up: Five-try Blackrock College went to the top of the Division One table tonight after a comfortable 28-3 win over Dublin rivals Terenure College at Stradbrook.
Captain Shane Byrne and wingers Shane Monahan and David Rowan (3) all crossed the line in what turned out to be a one-sided game.
Byrne pushed over for the first try and while flanker Jayden Hill was sin-binned Blackrock went into the break 18-3 ahead with David McAllister's penalty Terenure's only score of the half.
In the second period Rowan's pace and guile played havoc with the Terenure defence as he ran in for two more tries.
Elsewhere Galwegians travelled to Ballymena and recorded their second win over Ulster opposition when they ran out scored 19-5 victors at Eaton Park.
The visitors established a 7-0 lead after an intercept try from winger John Cleary before fullback Robert O'Beirne tapped over the conversion.
Ballymena pushed hard before the break but the Galwegians' defence remained resolute before Cleary and centre Chris Briegl went over for further tries.
The hosts' only score arrived in injury-time from fullback Jamie Smith.
