Former Ireland international and Toulouse forward Trevor Brennan will appear at a European Cup Rugby (ERC) disciplinary hearing in Dublin next week after he allegedly struck an Ulster fan during a Heineken Cup clash.
Brennan yesterday succeeded in postponing his hearing, which was scheduled for today, after claiming he was concerned for his rights should the disciplinary hearing be "steamrolled through", prior to the determination in France of "a criminal complaint" made against him by Ulster fan Patrick Bamford.
Today, lawyers for both Brennan and the ERC agreed that a hearing would go ahead in Dublin next Friday, but only on whether or not it would prejudice a case in France.
The former St Mary's College player entered the seating area during the game in France on Sunday, January 21st, and allegedly struck Patrick Bamford, leaving the 25-year-old accountant requiring medical treatment at the ground and on his return home to London.
Brennan, 33, has claimed he was provoked by derogatory chants about his mother during the game, and ruled out any sectarian abuse.
