World Cup News:South Africa flanker Schalk Burger could miss Friday's crunch Pool A clash with England after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Samoa's scrumhalf Junior Polu.
Burger wasn't sin-binned by referee Paul Honiss after taking out Polu in mid-air, a decision which caused fury in the Samoan camp.
But the incident has been picked up by citing commissioner Douglas Hunter and Burger will appear in front of a disciplinary hearing as soon as it can be arranged.
Burger is a key player for the Springboks and a guilty verdict could see him suspended from Friday's pivotal game in Paris.
England are also sweating over a disciplinary ruling ahead of the game, with captain Phil Vickery due to appear in front of a hearing this afternoon.
Vickery was cited for kicking USA centre Paul Emerick during England's victory on Saturday.
Meanwhile Australia have called up utility back Cameron Shepherd
to replace the injured Mark Gerrard for the rest of the World Cup.
Gerrard will return to Australia this week after rupturing
his knee in Saturday's 91-3 victory over Japan in Lyon.
A spokesman for the Wallabies said Shepherd would join the
Australia team in Cardiff on Thursday ahead of their next game
against Wales on Saturday.
Shepherd, 23, is a fullback or winger who has played five
tests for Australia.
