New Zealand outhalf Dan Carter will make his comeback from a ruptured Achilles tendon in a club game on Saturday.
Carter, who was injured in February during his sabbatical with French club Perpignan, will play for his Southbridge club against Hornby in Christchurch after getting the all-clear following a training session with the Canterbury squad today.
"I'm really happy with where my training is at following my injury. I've done a lot of running in the past few weeks and speed work and contact work this week so I'm confident that I'm ready to go," the 27-year-old said.
If Carter comes through his club game he is likely to be considered for Canterbury's opening fixture of the Air New Zealand Cup against North Harbour on August 1st.
Depending on form and fitness, the pivot could also possibly force his way back into All Blacks contention for their matches against South Africa and Australia in September.
