With the league in the bag and the pressure off, Michael Cheika has predictably opted for change ahead of the final game of the season against the Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade tonight.

In the pack, only lock Trevor Hogan remains from the starting line-up that laid the foundation for the title clinching 41-8 in over the same opposition at the RDS last week.

Beside Hogan, Devin Toner is drafted in for Malcolm O'Kelly, while the frontrow is comprised of props Cian Healy and Stephen Knoop on either side of hooker Brian Blaney. Cameron Jowitt, Kevin McLaughlin and Stephen Keogh complete the backrow.

Brian O'Driscoll remains on the pitch after injury curtailed the latter portion of his season but the captain will partner Michael Berne rather than Felipe Contepomi in the centre.

Outhalf Jonathon Sexton will be supplied by Chris Keane and will look to bring a familiar looking back three of Girvan Dempsey, Shane Horgan and Luke Fitzgerald into play.

The fringe players can use this game to give the coaches something to mull over in the close season, according to Sexton, whose impressive finish to the season was owes a lot to being left out of European Cup squads.

"Being left out of the Heineken Cup squad once or twice really drove me on," said the outhalf today. "I'm pleased with how things have progressed over the last few months. I feel as though I have established myself a bit more in the squad, but you can't be complacent because with Isa Nacewa and other new signings coming in it will be up to all of us to knuckle down over the summer and try to kick on.

"I see Friday's game as a huge one because it will present players with a chance to stake a claim for next year. I see the Dragons game as a great opportunity to step up to the plate and try to give the coaches some more options.

"The Dragons are dangerous with ball in hand. A few of the tries that they conceded were from turnovers, but we were conscious in the build up to last weekend that we needed to guard against their attacking threat."

Bernard Jackman, Malcolm O'Kelly and Chris Whitaker are all named on a strong-looking bench for the 7.30pm kick-off.
