AIL Round-up:Clontarf were held to an 8-8 draw away to Galwegians at Crowley Park this afternoon.
The home side held the first half advantage due to the strong
winds and put all eight points on the board in that period. Lock
Dan O'Connell went over after 30 minutes to add to Paddy O'Toole's
penalty.
Clontarf's answer came when the wind was at their backs.
Scrum-half Fiach O'Loughlin crossed the line at the start of the
second period with Matt Nethery adding through a penalty.
Elsewhere Belfast Harlequins stopped the rot of nine straight
defeats when they beat Shannon 19-17 at Deramore
Park.
Out-half Niall O'Connor kicked 14 points plus the
all-important penalty from the halfway line to ensure victory. It
was to be the last action of the game and the teenager kept his
nerve.
In today's all-northern clash Dungannon beat Ballymena 15-8 while Terenure got the better of Lansdowne 7-3 in a low scoring encounter. UCD beat Garryowen 20-13.
