Rugby:Connacht announced two-year contract extensions for Frank Murphy, Miah Nikora and Ronan Loughney, news which compliments the re-signing of Jamie Hagen and the reintroduction of George Naoupu at the end of the season.
“It’s great being part of such a dedicated and hard-working squad and management and being part of Connacht for the next two years means a lot to me,” said Murphy, the 29-year-old scrumhalf, who has worn the captain’s armband for the province.
New Zealander Nikora joined at the start of the season and has become a pivotal player for Eric Elwood’s side, especially with the boot. Prop Loughrey came through the Connacht Academy before making his senior debut in 2005.
“The re-signing of Loughs, Murphy and Miah is a big step in building our squad for next season,” said Elwood. “They play in crucial positions and knowing that we have that stability and maturity in these crucial roles gives us a huge amount of confidence going forward.”
