Dragons 27 Connacht 14: Connacht remain rooted to the foot of the Magners League table after being handed their 12th defeat of the campaign, this time by the lowly Newport Gwent Dragons. The result means Connacht have yet to pick up a single point on their travels this year.
As on so many occasions, Michael Bradley’s side come away from Rodney Parade with nothing to show for their not inconsiderable efforts as the Dragons ran in three tries and dominated from the outset.
The upshot is that Connacht will certainly finish the season in last place.
Fionn Carr gave 14-man Connacht hope with a try early in the second half with skipper Gavin Duffy in the sin bin but by the time Keith Matthews followed, the Dragons had struck twice more to move out of reach.
The defeat leaves Connacht ten points behind Newport, with just two games remaining, though a defiant last stand to the final whistle denied the Dragons a vital bonus that left them behind Welsh rivals Cardiff Blues and the Scarlets by a single point.
