Cork Constitution moved up to third in the AIB Division One League, and with it secured a place in the semi-finals, after a convincing 20-3 win over St Mary's College at Temple Hill this afternoon.
The result moves the AIB Cup champions level on points with Shannon and five behind league leaders Garryowen and Clontarf - who lead with 56 points after 14 games - after their fifth league win in a row.
The home side held a 5-3 lead at the interval after hooker Des Murray crossed the line for the first of three tries. Merle O'Connell and fullback Richie Lane scored the second half tries, while the visitors only points came from the boot of Jonathan Sexton.
In the day's only other top flight fixture Co Carlow lost 38-10 to Dublin University at College Park which leaves them firmly rooted to the foot of the table.
