England wing Mark Cueto is relishing a chance of storming Heineken Cup rugby's most imposing fortress tomorrow, declaring: "Records are there to be broken."
Guinness Premiership leaders Sale are unbeaten in Europe this season, taking charge of Pool One following five successive victories - including home and away doubles over Castres and Newport Gwent Dragons.
They have also toppled twice-beaten Heineken Cup finalists Munster, mapping out their quarter-final ambitions with a 27-13 win at Edgeley Park during the tournament's opening weekend.
They now face their biggest test in the return encounter with Munster at Thomond Park. The Sharks have already secured quarter-final status, but a home draw would also be guaranteed by lowering Munster's colours at Thomond Park.
It is a feat none of Munster's Heineken Cup rivals have managed in 22 previous attempts, yet no visiting team has arguably been in better shape than Sale to try to achieve what would be a landmark result.
"These are uncharted waters for us," said Cueto. "Normally, at this stage of the tournament we have just been playing to save face - but this is what the Heineken Cup is all about.
"Everyone keeps telling us that Munster have never lost at home, but records are there to be broken. While we have qualified for the quarter-finals, it would be a dream come true to go through the group stages unbeaten."
Apart from a Thomond Park factor that inevitably sees them start as favourites this weekend, Munster know they must win to guarantee progressing - either as Pool One top dogs or a best runner-up over six groups.
Munster have named a 28-man panel for the clash.
