Newport Gwent Dragons have dropped their pursuit of a racial abuse case against Ulster fans after the Irish province was unable to substantiate the claims.
The Welsh club expressed their concerns to Ulster over perceived racial abuse towards one of their players from a section of the Ravenhill crowd during their Celtic League clash on February 16th.
A letter from Ulster Rugby, received today by the Dragons and Celtic Rugby, outlined the investigation carried out by the Irish side into the claims.
Ulster claim to have reviewed all available television, video and CCTV footage; obtained reports from the referee; and conducted interviews with touch judges, event management staff, stewards and members of the Ulster Rugby Supporters Club.
Nonetheless, they have reported "that these enquiries have not been able to substantiate the claims made," according to a Celtic League statement released this afternoon.
"Newport Gwent Dragons have acknowledged and thanked Ulster Rugby for the seriousness in which they have viewed this matter and the efforts that Ulster Rugby has gone to in investigating the claims made.
"Newport Gwent Dragons have confirmed that, while standing by the claim of their player, that they are satisfied with Ulster Rugby's response and that they now consider the matter closed."
Celtic Rugby also now considers the matter closed having received no formal complaint from the Dragons.
