France coach Bernard Laporte has gone back on his promise to follow a rotation policy during the Six Nations and has made just two changes to his squad for next Sunday's match against Ireland.
"We know that to win the Championship we have to win in Ireland so we'll start rotating the players of our 40-man squad in the last three games," team manager Jo Maso said in a statement to explain this change of strategy.
"We want to work in the continuity (of the 39-3 win over Italy in Rome) and to give more playing time to the team which brought back a good result from Rome."
Sale hooker Sebastien Bruno and Perpignan centre David Marty
come into the 22-player squad named on Sunday, replacing Dimitri
Szarzewski and Florian Fritz, both slightly injured.
Bruno, 32, has won 16 caps, the last one when he replaced
Raphael Ibanez against Ireland in the last Six Nations.
Marty, 24, has nine caps to his name. He made his last appearance for France against Argentina in November, coming in for Yannick Jauzion three minutes from time.
He stands a fair chance of starting the Ireland game as he is the only specialist centre in the squad other than Jauzion whereas Bruno will probably travel to Ireland as the understudy to captain Raphael Ibanez.
Laporte is due to announce his starting line-up on Tuesday.
