Danny Grewcock is to retire at the end of the season, his club Bath have confirmed today. The veteran lock, who will turn 39 in June, won 69 caps for England during a career that has spanned 15 years.

He started out with hometown club Coventry before joining Saracens in 1998, with a move to Bath following in 2001.

Grewcock made 226 appearances for Bath and, as well as playing in one of the games during England’s successful World Cup campaign in 2003, toured with the British and Irish Lions in 2001 and 2005.

“I have been incredibly lucky to play for such a long time at such a great club,” Grewcock said. “I have enjoyed every minute of it, and have been very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to stay involved throughout.”
