Hayes pulls out of Munster team

Ireland prop John Hayes has withdrawn from the Munster side to face Edinburgh in Murrayfield this evening

Ireland prop John Hayes has withdrawn from the Munster side to face Edinburgh in Murrayfield this evening. The Bruff man travelled with Tony McGahan's squad but complained of sore throat and sat out the captain's run at the Herriott-Watt University Campus yesterday.

He was given every chance to recuperate but it was eventually decided that Tony Buckley should fly to Scotland this morning to replace his Ireland teammate.

McGahan has not yet decided whether to start with Buckley or Italian prop Federico Pucciariello, who was already among the replacements.

"We have Feddy (Pucciariello) on the bench and so with Tony we have good options there. At this stage we haven't decided who to start.

"We'll have a look at that later in the day. Our medical team believe John's condition will clear up pretty quickly and I would expect to have him back in contention for a place next week."
