Lions Tour:British and Irish Lions lock Nathan Hines has been given a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle on Wilhelm Steenkamp during yesterday's game against the Emerging Springboks and will therefore not be considered for the second Test against South Africa on Saturday.
The Scotland forward's tackle on his opposite number went unpunished by referee Alain Rolland during the 13-13 draw in Cape Town but was later singled out by citing commissioner Steve Hinds.
It means Hines is currently unavailable for Saturday's second test although he still has 24 hours to lodge an appeal.
Under the Lions' tour agreement in South Africa, the citing commissioner has a 12-hour window to report any incidents or foul play.
Hines is the first Lions player to face disciplinary action which comes with two games remaining on the 10-match tour.
Hines was an outside candidate to make the Lions' match-day 22 against the Springboks in Saturday's second Test in Pretoria.
