Rugby:The draw for this season's AIB Cup took place earlier today at Ballynahinch RFC, winners of last year's competition. The knockout cup competition brings together all 48 AIB League clubs from the four provinces.
The first round of the draw includes the 32 clubs from Divisions Two and Three of the AIB League. The winners of these ties will then go forward to the second round to play the 16 clubs from Divisions 1A and 1B of the AIB League.
The first round of the competition will be played on the weekend September 26th/27th and the second round will be played on the weekend November 17th/18th.
Round three will take place on November 7th/8th, the quarter-finals on November 21st/22nd with the semi-finals set for December 19th/20th.
The winners from round two will be entered into further open draws for round three, the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
The final will be played on January, 30th 2010. The draw for the AIB Junior Cup will be made at a later date.
Holders Ballynahinch have been drawn at home in the second round against Cork Constitution in a repeat of last season’s final.
