RUGBY ALL-IRELAND SENIOR CUP:  The draws for the quarter-finals of the AIB Cup and AIB Junior Cup were made at Donnybrook this afternoon where Bective lost to Garryowen in today's third round.

Garryowen reached the quarter-final last year before they were defeated, and this time around they advanced to the same stage with a 15-9 win over Bective.

The visitors went into the break 12-6 ahead courtesy of first half tries from Michael Sherry and captain Paul Neville.

Cathal Connolly kept Bective chances alive with two penalties in the opening period. The home side struggled against the wind in the second half and their only score came from another converted Connolly penalty.

When Conor Kilroy's 77th minute penalty went over the Limerick side's progress to the next round was assured.

Elsewhere two late tries from Richie Lane gave Cork Constitution a 23-10 win away to Bruff at Kilballyowen Park.

The reigning Munster Senior Cup and AIB League champions went 8-0 ahead at the break when winger Lane kicked a penalty plus scored the opening try of the match just after the half hour mark.

Bruff came back into the game in the second period when Alan Bourke scored a try, plus five further points were added from the boot of Brian Cahill to put the home side 9-8 ahead.

However, Lane's two breakaway tries in the closing stages turned the game on its head to ensure Con advanced despite a strong performance from their Division Two opponents.

Ulster Senior League Champions Ballynahinch created one of the upsets of the day when they travelled to Limerick and defeated holders Shannon by the narrowest of margins, 16-15.

The victory earned Ballynahinch an away fixture at Galwegians in the quarter-final. Garryowen will face Buccaneers - who defeated UL Bohemian 31-13 at Dubarry Park - at home in the last eight, while Young Munster host UCC after today's 27-25 win over UCD. Cork will face local rivals Dolphin, who were comprehensive 44-6 winners over Ards at Musgrave Park today.

In the AIB Junior Cup, holders Navan have been drawn at home against Ballymoney.

The quarter-finals in both competitions will be played on the weekend of February 14th-15th.
