Hook suffered a shoulder injury during the 17-10 Pool D victory over Samoa at Waikato Stadium.

And Wales assistant coach Shaun Edwards has indicated that Hook could be sidelined for two to three weeks.

Wales face Namibia in New Plymouth next Monday, then conclude their pool schedule against Fiji on October 2nd.

They are currently on course to tackle Ireland in the quarter-finals six days later, by which time they will hope Hook is available for selection.

“I think it’s a grade one or two injury that James has,” Edwards said. “That usually means two or three weeks.”

Wales are also awaiting further details on flanker Dan Lydiate after he went off in the 10th minute suffering from an ankle problem.
