The IRFU has advised rugby fans seeking to attend the World Cup in England and Wales next year to source tickets directly from the tournament organisers.
Tickets, the union said, “will not be available from clubs or the IRFU.”
Instead, fans will have to "create an account directly with Rugby World Cup 2015 to participate in the public ticket sale which takes place from September 12th to 29th, 2014."
A statement added: "To be in with a chance to get a ticket or tickets, you must apply through the Rugby World Cup website - tickets.rugbyworldcup.com.
“This requires setting up an account and listing the games you wish to attend. If matches are oversubscribed . . . the game will go to a ballot.
“Up to one million tickets will go on general sale via an application window which opens this Friday (September 12th) and closes on September 29th, 2014.
Tickets for all 48 matches will be available at this stage of the process and fans will be able to apply for up to four tickets for each match.
