Paddy Jackson is to miss out on Ireland's squad for Sunday's Six Nations opener against Wales after he was named in the Ulster 23 for their fixture on Friday night.

Les Kiss’s side take on the Newport Gwent Dragons at Ravenhill with the opportunity to move to the top of the Pro 12 table.

And their chances of doing so have been boosted by the inclusion of Jackson in the matchday squad.

Jackson has been in fine form for Ulster this season, however it has not been enough to convinve Joe Schmidt to use him as Johnny Sexton's understudy.
