The AIB League Division Two final between Terenure and Dolphin, scheduled for this Saturday in Lansdowne Road, has been postponed until a later date.
The decision to postpone the game was made following an objection lodged by Young Munster against Dolphin relating to an alleged fielding of an ineligible player Andrew O'Driscoll.
Further information is required on the player's move from Bandon RFC this season. A spokesperson for Dolphin told the Irish Times today that the club registered the player after the October 1st deadline - specified under league regulation 13.1.
O'Driscoll was an unused sub in Dolphin's win over Bective Rangers on the last day of the regular season and came off the bench in the Division Two semi-final defeat of Young Munster last Satuday. Dolphin could be deducted two points , which would see Young Munster promoted to Division One in their place.
A statement from the IRFU today read: "The objection requires the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to investigate the claim and this has been ongoing and both clubs need to be given the opportunity to represent their case to the IRFU.
"The AIB League Committee considered that the time required to allow this process to take place before the AIB League Division 2 final was not sufficient and therefore felt that there was no other option but to postpone the game until the matter is resolved."
The AIB League Division Three Final between Clonakilty RFC and Suttonians RFC, which was moved to Anglesea Road at the RDS due to the condition of the Lansdowne Road pitch, will now take place in Lansdowne Road at 2.00pm in place of the Division Two final.
All ticket holders for the Division Three final will be able to gain entry to Lansdowne Road.
