O2 Ireland have signed-up to become the new official sponsor of the Irish rugby team just days before Eddie O'Sullivan's sqaud travel Down Under for their summer tour against New Zealand and Australia.
The six-year deal with the IRFU begins from tomorrow, and although the exact value of the deal is unknown at this stage, it represents strong financial support for the future of Irish rugby.
O2 Ireland is already involved in Irish rugby with their sponsorship of Irish Schools competition, AIL side Shannon and individual endorsement deals with Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll and O'Sullivan.
The mobile communications company also sponsors the West stand at Lansdowne Road, plus a sponsorship agreement with former Irish international and Shannon coach, Mick Galwey.
"We are delighted to be sponsoring the team at a time when Irish rugby is so strong. Ireland's tremendous performance in the Triple Crown and its impressive performances in the Six Nations is testament to the skill of today's players and the successful structures put in place by the IRFU," said Danuta Gray, chief executive at O2 Ireland.
