Team news:Leinster's quest to make amends for their opening Heineken Cup defeat to London Irish begins with a first ever meeting with Brive on Saturday and Michael Cheika is leaving nothing to chance.

The Australian has named 13 Irish internationals in his squad for the Pool Six encounter at the Stade Municipal (3.45pm Irish time), with Shane Jennings included despite the openside facing a disciplinary hearing in Dublin tomorrow.

Jennings was cited under law 10.4 (l) - Acts contrary to good sportsmanship – for allegedly making contact with the eye/eye area of Exiles lock Nick Kennedy last weekend.

His case will be heard by independent judicial officer Roger Morris (Wales).

If found guilty, Jennings could face a lengthy suspension but for now he will be focused on atoning for the defending champions’ opening defeat, as will his team-mates.

Wing Shane Horgan looks set to extend his record to 72 appearances in the competition, while Malcolm O’Kelly (69) and Girvan Dempsey (65) will be hoping for some game time, having sat out the defeat to Irish.

Leinster defence coach Kurt McQuilkin insists the side is in “good shape” despite defeat to London Irish and says a strong start is essential against Brive.

"Obviously everyone was very disappointed after last weekend's defeat, but we have come in and done a few good days work. We've gone over the game, identified a couple of areas that we need to improve on and we're in pretty good shape now.

"London Irish were good. They were nasty, they had good line speed and they tackled well and I think that both defences cancelled each other out. It probably wasn't a great spectacle, but from my point of view it was interesting watching both defences, how the systems worked and how they shut each other down.

"You've got to start strongly against French teams,” he added. “You can't let them breach you early on and if they get their tails up, they're very hard to knock even with the large English contingent in their squad. You've got to look to make a few impact hits early on just to set the mark.

"After last weekend, it's back to the walls for us. We know that we can't afford to lose another game so that has really focused the minds for us. We know that we have to win. And we intend to.

"Consistency is vital for us this week. Everyone's good to go. We finished off with a session today and the boys are raring (to go). If they could play the game tomorrow they would."

Until a win is secured in France there will be few smiles around the camp, but one man who might afford himself one is flanker Kevin McLaughlin, who was today named as the supporters' player of the month.

"I am delighted to receive this award; it is a great honour to be recognised by the Leinster supporters. I've worked hard over the past few months and look forward to continuing this for the supporters and for the team," he said this afternoon.

"We're really looking forward to the game against Brive, it is a chance to get back on track following last week's defeat".
