Toulon 16 Racing Metro 6

Jonathan Sexton’s hopes of guiding Racing Metro 92 to their first Top 14 final were dashed tonight when Toulon outmuscled the Parisian side in Lille.

After Matt Giteau’s early try and Jonny Wilkinson’s conversion, Sexton struck back with two penalties in the first half, though he missed one and hit the post with a drop-goal just before the break, allowing Toulon to take a one-point lead in at half-time.

Wilkinson pushed home Toulon’s advantage after the break with two penalties stretching their lead before a drop-goal put the game out of Racing’s reach.
