Rugby:Declan Kidney has brought five uncapped players into a 32-man Irish training squad ahead of Ireland's opening game in the Six Nations Championship. Four players, who have already played for Ireland at senior level, are also included.

Ten of the squad will be released when Kidney announces his match day 22 on Wednesday ahead of Ireland's opening game against Wales at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.

Kidney, who travelled to Exeter at the weekend, has brought in four uncapped players from the Irish Wolfhound’s team that lost to England Saxons 23-17.

Munster winger Simon Zebo, who scored a late try for Ireland, and the Leinster duo of winger Dave Kearney, who also touched down, and centre Eoin O’Malley have been included.

Connacht prop Brett Wilkinson has also drafted in as well, along with Munster’s Peter O’Mahony, who was not involved in the Ireland ‘A’ game at the weekend.

The Munster backrow was one of six additional players Kidney had originally called on to supplement a 24-man Irish squad picked earlier this month.

Several other faces from the ‘A’ side that have already been capped have also been brought in. Denis Hurley, Dan Tuohy, Chris Henry and Rhys Ruddock, all join the squad at their base in Carton House.

Once again there is no room for the other tryscorer at Sandy Park, Tomás O’Leary, with Eoin Reddan and Conor Murray chosen as the two scrumhalves, with Isaac Boss also missing out.

Luke Fitzgerald, who was replaced by Zebo for the Wolfhounds match because of a neck injury, remains with Leinster.

Johnny Sexton, who has not played since twisting an ankle in Glasgow a few weeks ago, is included with Ronan O’Gara. Doubt remains over his fitness, although Kidney has not recruited another specialist outhalf, which suggests he is satisfied with progress.

Of the 24-man squad Kidney selected earlier this month, only Leo Cullen is not included. The Leinster captain decided to have a pressing operation on his Achilles tendons and has been sidelined.

The introduction of O’Malley reignites the outside centre debate as Brian O’Driscoll continues his rehabilitation from a shoulder operation. O’Malley along with Keith Earls, Fergus McFadden and Tommy Bowe can all play in the position.
