Leinster ‘A’ pushed all the way by dogged Ealing

Three penalties from Cathal Marsh and a try by Darren Hudson prove enough for victory

Leinster A ensured that they finished top of their British and Irish Cup pool with six wins from six after a lacklustre win away to Ealing Trailfinders.

Fullback Darren Hudson scored an early try when he pounced on a loose ball and dotted down, but the expected avalanche didn’t arrive and the boys in blue only had three penalties from outhalf Cathal Marsh by the end.

Ben Ward landed two penalties in the first half for the hosts (who are bottom of the Greene King IPA Championship) whose dogged defence and strong pack meant that it was only after the two late penalties that the visitors' win looked likely. Ealing had the last word when Phil Chesters scored in the corner, Ward converted.
