Ulster second row Matt McCullough has been cleared following allegations he racially abused an opponent.
It had been alleged McCullough directed racist remarks at winger Delon Armitage - originally from Trinidad - during a Heineken Cup match between Ulster and London Irish in December.
Both the player and Ulster Rugby strenuously denied the accusation and today, after a lengthy meeting in Dublin, the disciplinary committee decided not to uphold two misconduct complaints.
"Having heard four hours of evidence the independent Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Professor Lorne Crerar (Scotland) and also comprising Paul Mauriac (France) and Aurwell Morgan (Wales), determined that a prima facie case had not been established," an ERC statement read.
"The Disciplinary Committee accordingly determined that the misconduct complaints against Mr McCullough should not be upheld."
London Irish have the right to appeal.
While he admitted using foul language towards Armitage - an England 'A' cap - after the game at Ravenhill on December 15th, McCullough always denied making racist comments.
Both Ulster Rugby and McCullough welcomed today's verdict and acknowledged and accepted the ERC's need to fully investigate the claims.
"While the period leading up to the verdict has been difficult for Matt and his family," read an Ulster statement, "the hearing has provided an opportunity for Matt to clear his name."
Bourgoin second row Julien Pierre has escaped suspension despite the committee upholding a citing for dangerous play in a ruck during the French side's defeat to Munster 10 days ago.
Pierre dropped his knee on Donncha O'Callaghan but while the committee acknowledged "an act of foul play", no suspension was imposed as they said the incident would not have warranted a red card.
Munster have the right to appeal.
