RUGBY: Munster coach Tony McGahan has named a quartet of Ireland Grand Slam champions in his provisional 26-man squad ahead of the province's Magners League game away to Glasgow on Friday night.
Peter Stringer, Jerry Flannery, Tomas O’Leary and Mick O’Driscoll were all named in today’ squad, but there is no place for the likes of Paul O’Connell, Ronan O’Gara or Donncha O’Callaghan.
Elsewhere Connacht’s Adrian Flavin and Kieran Campbell have been included in the 22-man squad to face Edinburgh at Murrayfield on Friday (7.30pm).
Flavin has not played since defeat to the Ospreys on February 22nd, but has recovered from a leg injury to help prevent Connacht from being cut adrift entirely at the bottom of the Magners League.
Campbell’s return from representing Ireland in the Dubai Sevens is also timely.
Connacht are nine points behind the Dragons but can close that gap this weekend after the Welsh side’s match against the Ospreys was postponed.
The two then meet at the Sportsground on April 3rd, so hope remains for coach Michael Bradley, but his side need to produce in Scotland.
