Rugby:England under-20 flanker Ross Moriarty has been suspended for seven weeks for his tip tackle on Ireland scrumhalf Luke McGrath during last Friday night's game in Athlone.

The Six Nations Disciplinary Committee Gloucester categorised the offence as been in the mid-range in terms of seriousness, which carries a sanction of eight weeks.

The committee added an additional two weeks to reflect the need for a deterrent for the type of tackle but allowed three weeks mitigation, in arriving at a seven-week suspension.

Moriarty received a red card for the tackle in the 27th minute of the game, which left Leinster player McGrath requiring attention on the pitch. Ireland went on to win the game 16-15.
