Leicester Tigers scrumhalf Frank Murphy was among three players announced as the latest additions to the Connacht team today.

On a day when the province announced the renewal of its contract with main sponsors Bank of Ireland, it also revealed that Leinster backs Fionn Carr and Ian Keatley will be joining Murphy in the move to the West.

Murphy has considerable experience in England's top tier having joined from Munster in 2006.

In his two years at Welford Road, the 26-year-old Ireland A international made 46 appearances and scored two tries - one of which was in the Guinness Premiership final at Twickenham last year.

He also played in the Heineken Cup final last year which Leicester lost.

A spokesman for Connacht Rugby said the new additions combined experience with promise.

Carr (22) can play at centre, wing or full back while 21-year-old Keatley plays at outhalf.

"Fionn and Ian have both shown great ability at age group levels for Ireland and it is our hope we will develop them into future Irish internationals.

"Frank Murphy will provide an experienced link between our forward pack and these young backs," he said.
