PBC gave a sparkling first-half display during which they scored three tries on their way to sending Castletroy out of the Munster Schools’ Senior Cup at Thomond Park.

The Limerick side made a lively start and after Jamie Heuston landed a seventh-minute penalty they continued to dominate in the opening quarter.

But PBC broke for their first try after 20 minutes. Several players handled in a terrific move which ended with winger Conor Duggan touching down far out.

Another superb movement brought try number two for fullback Darragh Dennehy, who had a second touchdown which John Poland converted to make it 17-3 at halftime.

The game looked over when Graham Smith added a try three minutes into the second half but Castletroy upped their game and a try by Niall O’Shea, converted by Heuston, gave them hope after 65 minutes.

Three minutes later Mark O’Mara, a nephew of former Irish star peter Clohessy, had another Castletroy try but they could not get on terms.
