Munster’s Jaco Taute is set for six months out of action after it was confirmed that he suffered knee ligament damage against Cardiff Blues on Saturday.

The centre was seen to by a specialist on Tuesday who confirmed that it was a ligament injury and that he will undergo a six month rehabilitation programme.

The Springbok left the pitch on a stretcher last Saturday during the first half of Munster’s clash with Cardiff and will now miss the majority of the remainder of the season with Rassie Erasmus’s side set to take on Leinster in the Pro14 this Saturday, followed by the start of their Champions Cup campaign.
