Leinster and Munster have added to their squads ahead of the knockout stages of the Heineken European Cup, but neither have added the maximum of three with the defending champions happy to opt for just one and the Magners League holders calling on two.

All eight teams left in the competition strengthened today but only the Ospreys, Cardiff Blues and Bath Rugby registered three extra players.

Munsters solitary additions is Ireland Under-21 hooker Michael Essex, while Leinster have added prop Jamie Hagan and Blackrock out-half/centre, Kyle Tonetti.

Hagan, who turns 22 next month, is included as back-up for CJ van der Linde, who injured his toe after coming off the bench in the 32-6 win over Ulster at the RDS on Sunday.
