AIL round-up: Defending champions Shannon are back on top of the All-Ireland League after a hard-fought win over St Mary's College this afternoon.
Neither side were able to impose themselves before half-time and the scores were level at the break, Tadhg Bennett and Jonathan Sexton notching a penalty apiece.
Shannon gradually gained the edge as the contest wore on and were rewarded with a Les Hogan try that put daylight between the sides. Bennett tagged on a further two penalties as the Limerick club moved above UL Bohemians at the top of the standings.
In today's only other Division One clash, Belfast Harlequins slumped to their fourth defeat of the season as Dolphin came away from Deramore with the spoils.
A tight first half finished 3-3 before Munter wing Tomas O'Leary sealed the points with a second-half try. The result leaves 'Quins rooted to the foot of the table while newly promoted Dolphin keep pace with the early leaders.
