Munster have abandoned plans to sell the naming rights to the redeveloped Thomond Park, the IRFU and the Munster Branch confirmed this evening.
Instead, the new stands at the 26,000-seater stadium, which is
due to be completed by the start of the 2008-2009 season, will be
marketed on an individual basis to help offset the
€43-million cost of redeveloping the famous old venue.
A statement released by the Munster Branch explained that
"having examined the possibility of a Naming Rights Partner as part
of its commercial programme for the new Thomond Park, the Branch
has decided that this is not a concept it will progress
further."
