Rugby news:Munster have drafted in Waikato's Savena Tokula for the rest of the season to bolster their midfield resources. Tokula, who is due to arrive from New Zealand this weekend, can cover both the outside centre and wing positions.

The 26-year-old will provide cover for Tony McGahan following the departure of Will Chambers last month while Tom Gleeson and Troy Smith remain sidelined. Smith is due to have another operation on the knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines this season, Gleeson continues to struggle with a shoulder problem.

Munster have already agreed deals to bring in centres Casey Laulala and James Downey at the end of the season.

McGahan has also agreed to allow prop Peter Borlase join Connacht on loan to ease Eric Elwood’s problems in the front row. The Connacht coach is without Dylan Rogers and Rodney Ah You through injury and with Borlase on the fringes of the Munster squad the move makes sense for both provinces.

“We’re going to the RDS with every intent to win the game and having the opportunity to welcome back a few fresh faces will give us a boost,” Scarlets coach Nigel Davies said today. “We know we have a lot of work to do from here on in. We’ve dropped off the standard a little bit and we’ve been disappointed in the last two performances against Sale and Glasgow.

“We’ve been very hard on ourselves this week but in saying that we are competitive in every aspect in the majority of our games and we just need to ensure that we get back to where we know we can be now on Friday evening.”
