Rugby:Munster will play host to Ulster in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup after the remaining pool matches were completed this afternoon. Munster, the only unbeaten side in the competition, advance as top seeds with Ulster making it through as the second best runner-up.
The winners of the all-Irish showdown will enjoy home advantage in the semi-finals with this evening’s draw for the last four pairing them with either Michael Bradley’s Edinburgh, who made it through to the knockout stages for the first time in eight seasons, or French giants Toulouse.
Defending champions Leinster have been pitted against the Cardiff Blues, the Welsh side losing out on top spot in Pool Two to Edinburgh but also progressing as a best runner-up. Leinster, who are likely to switch the match from the RDS to the Aviva Stadium, will face Cardiff when the quarter-finals get underway at the start if April.
Should they progress, Joe Schmidt’s side must take to the road where either Saracens, the only English side still left in the competition, or Clermont Auvergne lie in wait.
