England will have to go in search of revenge for the record mauling they suffered against South Africa last weekend without a quartet of unavailable players.

Coach Brian Asthon is again without centres Andy Farrell and James Simpson-Daniel, while fullback Mike Brown, who earned his first cap in Bloemfontain, is also ruled out of the second Test at Loftus Versfeld.

All three are suffering from the stomach virus that has hampered the England squad since it arrived in South Africa two weeks ago

Flanker Andy Hazell is another absentee because of a knee problem suffered during the record 58-10 first Test defeat to the Springboks.

There is further concern for Ashton as he waits on skipper Jason Robinson, who is battling to overcome fluid on the knee.

Uncapped Bath fullback Nick Abendanon will fly out to join the squad tonight and could effectively go straight into the match-day 22.

Ashton will not announce his starting line-up until Friday lunchtime - barely 24 hours before kick-off - at the earliest.
