TERENURE COLLEGE 20; NEWBRIDGE COLLEGE 0: Two tries from Terenure College winger David Russell ensured a comfortable win over a determined Newbridge College side in the first round of the Leinster Junior Cup at Donnybrook yesterday.
Russell's tries came two minutes after the kick-off and two minutes before half-time - but were both richly deserved.
Terenure completely dominated throughout the game but were frustrated time and again by a dogged Newbridge rear-guard action and their own over-eagerness when trying to recycle possession.
A combination of both these factors meant the half-time score of 13-0 remained unaltered until nine minutes from time when a converted try from industrious scrumhalf Rudi Vij capped off a comprehensive victory for Terenure.
