Dublin 7-13 Dubs Stars 0-8:Dublin's senior hurlers proved far too strong for the Dubs Stars, claiming a comfortable 7-13 to 0-8 victory in their annual encounter at Blakestown Road yesterday.
After a reasonably even opening, Dublin assumed control through goals from Paul Ryan and Conor McCormack with the Dubs Stars replying briefly through a brace of points from the impressive Sean McGrath.
However, Dublin were creating goal chances at will and both Danny Sutcliffe and Ryan found the net by the 17th minute to build up a sizeable lead for the county team.
McGrath and John Hetherton pointed to keep the Dubs Stars within distance but their defensive difficulties were compounded as Ryan completed his hat-trick in the 27th minute to ensure his side a 5-4 to 0-5 interval lead.
The procession continued after the break with substitutes Niall McMorrow and Glenn Whelan impressing upon their introduction and the former’s goal in the 60th minute was just reward for a lively display.
The goal glut was complete four minutes later as another substitute Aodhán Clabby netted from close rang.
