Cork City 0 St Patrick's Athletic 1:DARRAGH RYAN'S 10th-minute goal gave St Patrick's Athletic victory over Cork City at Turner's Cross last night. The goal came via the first real chance of the game. The former City player sent a low shot home from the edge of the area after Alan Cawley picked him out from a corner.
Cork will claim that they deserved something from this but they failed to create enough clear-cut opportunities.
Their best chance of an equaliser came four minutes into the second half, Fahrudin Kudozovic heading on a cross from Billy Dennehy to Pat Sullivan at the back post, but he shot into the ground and it bounced up for St Patrick’s goalkeeper Gary Rogers to clear.
Most of the second half was a siege as City searched in vain for an equaliser, Danny Murphy, Kudozovic and Dennehy all going close with chances from outside the box, but St Patrick’s held firm to take all the points.
