Dunnamaggin 2-10 Fenians 1-13 A late point from Brian Ryan kept Fenians (Johnstown) in the hunt for the Kilkenny senior hurling crown, as they fought back to earn a 2-10 to 1-13 draw with Dunnamaggin at Nowlan Park yesterday.

The other semi-final was also closely contested with Young Irelands edging out James Stephens by a point - 0-17 to 0-16.

Dunnamaggin took a firm grip on the game when Ken O'Shea reacted quickest to flick a Kenneth Moore shot past Fenians goalkeeper PJ Ryan. At the interval, Dunnamaggin led 1-7 to 0-5.

Fenians got a great start to the second half when Paul Quinlan broke through to goal inside the opening minute, but another Ken O'Shea strike put Dunnamaggin back in the driving seat.

Fenians fought back, however, and drew level with points from Quinlan, Kevin Power (two) and Eoin Behan, but Eamon Kennedy's 61st-minute 65 seemed to seal victory for Dunnamaggin.

But there was still enough injury time for Ryan to weave his way through and score the equalising point. The replay will be at Nowlan Park on Saturday.

DJ Carey gave an impeccable display of free-taking - he scored nine points in all - to help Young Irelands to reach the final.

The first half was a quiet affair, dominated by stoppages. However the Gowran men went in with a 0-7 to 0-6 lead at the interval, largely thanks to Carey.
