Gonzaga - 19 St Andrews College - 3: A dazzling try by centre Kevin Ryan after four minutes set Gonzaga up for victory at Templeville Road yesterday. They added a second try just before half-time courtesy of outhalf Kilian Tuite. Centre Godfrey Greene converted both.
St Andrew's put up a good fight in the second half and their territorial advantage should have yielded a couple of scores, but a last-minute scintillating try by Gonzaga winger Ben Hickey sealed matters. Hickey started his run for the corner from inside his own half and he went all the way along the touchline.
Gonzaga had the better of the first half and all St Andrew's could achieve against the onslaught was a penalty by outhalf Andrew Balbirnie. The second half was scrappier as St Andrew's were held out on the line in the last minutes.
