Tipperary - 2-17 Galway - 1-20Tipperary and Galway must meet again after the Munster side forced a draw after extra-time in the All-Ireland Intermediate final at Birr on Saturday.
After 100 minutes of hurling Galway were seconds away from victory when a foul was committed on Tipperary's Pa Morrissey. Colm Ryan stepped up to send a pressure free straight over the crossbar.
In normal time Galway led by 1-14 to 1-13 near the end when Tipperary won a '55, and Brian Gaynor's shot went all the way to the Galway net.
Galway led by 1-17 to 1-16 at half-time in the second half of extra time when Tipperary's Mark Keeshan scored a fine goal to set up the dramatic finale.
