Golf:All five nations bidding to host the 2018 Ryder Cup - France, Germany, Holland, Portugal and Spain - have signed Conditional Host Agreements and will learn their fate when the announcement is made on Tuesday, May 17th.
“We would like to express our gratitude and congratulations to the representatives of France, Germany, Holland, Portugal and Spain, who responded so professionally and diligently to Ryder Cup Europe’s bidding criteria,” said Ryder Cup director Richard Hills.
“All five countries have responded positively to the conditions we laid out, giving us to confidence that each one would be well positioned to host a memorable 2018 Ryder Cup.”
Having signed the conditional agreement it means whoever is selected when the announcement is made at Wentworth in May, a fully binding legal document will already be in place.
The first formal bid process to host the biennial team event between Europe and the United States began at the end of 2008. Of the five bidding nations only Spain has previously hosted the event when Seve Ballesteros narrowly guided Europe to victory (14.5-13.5) at Valderrama in 1997.
